The Sober Living Program in North Charleston SC is a residential treatment program designed to help individuals with substance abuse problems turn their lives around. The name Sober Living was selected as an acronym for the three parts of the treatment plan which are – Hospital, Office and Counseling. The goal is to get the client to a point that they can handle their own affairs independently and that the hospital and doctors do not have to be called upon to take over the person’s care. It is hoped that by keeping the client out of the hospital and doctors’ office, that it will reduce the need for the services that these medical professionals provide. The Sober Living Program also hopes to educate the client on the disease of addiction and its symptoms so that they can recognize the signs when they are showing. The goal is not to provide an instant cure, but to set the foundation for recovery.
There are four main elements to the Sober Living program, the first is the Hospital. This is a six-month transitional living facility that works closely with the client’s primary care physician in providing medical care. The doctor and the staff involved work together, making sure that the client gets the medical care that they need without interference from outside sources. The primary care physician and the Sober Living transition team work with the hospital to ensure that the client gets all the services and access to the resources that they need under the terms of their insurance policy. The transitional living quarter is just that, a transitional living quarter.
The next element is the Office. This is a thirty-day rehab facility that works closely with the hospital to provide the primary care physician with a list of the services that the patient has requested. This office also coordinates all appointments with the physicians and other services that are needed in order for the client to complete the full transition from the primary care physician to the Sober Living halfway house. Finally, the last element of the Sober Living program is the transitional living agency.
